James Boyle O'Higgins knew little or nothing of the South Seas, but he knew human beings, all colours. But they were all pretty nearly of the same length, and built somewhat after the model of a boat, having extremities as sharp and pointed as the keel of a canoe. No sterner head was ever beheld beneath the cowl of a monk, or the bonnet of an inquisitor. I enjoyed depicting the dichotomy of the peace and safety of the suburbs while also showing its dark side in the form of high school villain Katy Pfister, who, by the way, never gets her comeuppance like some of the other characters do.
